About Wendy Schwoerer

Growing up in Lynchburg, Virginia, I was surrounded by so much American history and breathtaking landscapes. It was a great place to grow up with my brother and sister. But our world got turned upside down when my mother died when I was nine. Although my dad remarried three years later and I inherited two more stepsisters, the loss of my mother taught me at a young age to be independent, and I learned to take care of myself. So I left home at the age of eighteen, determined to make my mark in the world. I just wasn’t sure what it was yet.

When I ventured out on my own at eighteen, I worked in a doctor’s office. While working for a man named Dr. King, he taught me not only basic medical procedures, but also how to conduct myself as a professional and to treat people in a kind and loving manner. In many ways, he was a mentor who helped me establish a foundation for my career.

With my learnings from Dr. King, I later moved to Florida for another medical transcription job at a new company that was opening rehabilitation centers in nursing homes across the country. I transitioned into a role where I traveled around the country, helping to set up these new rehab departments. It was a fantastic opportunity to see the country and meet people from all different parts of it. I also developed so many critical business skills during that time – I learned excellent presentation skills, people and project management, and trained others.

During my medical career, I married and began to buy investment rental properties. The experience of buying these rental homes really sparked my initial interest in real estate. I was tired of the constant travel and living out of a suitcase, so I decided to make a full pivot in my career into real estate. After I became a property manager, I soon realized that my heart was truly in becoming a REALTOR®. So, I got my license and focused on listing and selling houses full time.

I became a REALTOR® in 2000, so I have decades of experience from which to draw. But I must say, it never gets old for me because I love meeting new people and helping them find that new home to transition into the next chapter of their lives. There are so many people whom I would never have met if I didn’t have this job, and I’ve stayed in touch with them through the years. They’ve become so much more than clients to me. I truly believe in the goodness of people and find that most are very giving and generous. So my goal is always to look out for their best interests and give them honest and thorough information so they can make the best decision.

I tell my clients that I am literally a phone call away because I always answer my phone. When I work with people, it feels more like a friendship than a client relationship. I put my heart into nurturing those relationships – to laugh with them, learn about them and their family, and deliver the best service I can based on what they tell me.

My husband and I divorced years ago, but I still remain his REALTOR®! That speaks to the fact that people seek me out because they know who I am and that I authentically care about them. Additionally, my years in the business have honed my skills and knowledge to the point that I’m considered a trusted source for all real estate matters.

Even though I work seven days a week, I still love the flexibility of my job, and I find every day rewarding. The reward comes in finding that perfect property or selling for that perfect price. It never gets old, and I’m still so passionate about what I do.
